Timing Belts
The timing belt, also known as the cambelt, allows your engine’s essential components to work properly together. It is responsible for ensuring that the camshaft and crankshaft’s rotations are synced so that the engine valves open and close at the right time. However, over time the timing belt will wear and stretch through regular use, and if it isn’t replaced it can eventually snap, potentially causing very expensive damage to your engine.
At Cairnlea Garage we recommend that you have your timing belt checked according to your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation, usually after 40,000 to 60,000 miles driven, so that we can check for any substantial wear and if necessary, replace the cambelt to keep you safe on the road.
